About MSF

2017 marks the 17th Anniversary of the Mountain Sports Festival. Created with the intention of bringing together the outdoor enthusiasts, outdoor gear creators, and outdoor adventure companies, the festival has endured several transformations in its history to evolve into what it is today. The Mountain Sports Festival is a celebration of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains we call home and the lifestyle they cultivate of great outdoors, music, food, local business, and community.

The Mountain Sports Festival is organized by a volunteer board of directors who are community-oriented citizens dedicated to presenting a well balanced series of events that encourage participation on all levels of families and those just starting out to accomplished professional athletes.

The Board of Directors are as diverse as Asheville itself, coming from various backgrounds such as lawyers, non-profit, hospitality, financial sector to the outdoor industry. Here is a short list of the businesses and organizations we represent:

 

Directions to Festival Village

The MSF Festival Village is located at Carrier Park on Amboy Road along the scenic French Broad River in west Asheville offering wide open spaces and plenty of parking and room to spread out and enjoy all the great MSF activities. To find MSF at Carrier Park, follow any of the driving directions listed.

Parking at Carrier Park is limited, so carpooling or alternate transportation is recommended. Better yet biking with friends or family is encouraged, it is an outdoor sports festival after all! There will be bike racks available, but please bring your own lock as Mountain Sports Festival and Carrier Park are not responsible for any lost or stolen property. That said, there will be a bike corral organized by Asheville On Bikes and the Mountain Sports Festival this year, with attendants to help look after your bikes.

From I-40
Exit 50 – north on Biltmore Avenue – cross railroad tracks – turn left on Meadow Road at red light across from Wendy’s on the right – turn left on Amboy Road – go approximately 2 miles – see Carrier Park on left.

From I-26
Take I-240 East – follow the Amboy Road exit – travel approximately ¼ mile – see Carrier Park on right.

From Downtown Asheville
South on Biltmore Avenue for approximately 2 miles – turn right on Meadow Road – turn left at the second light on Amboy Road – go approximately 1½ miles – see Carrier Park on left accomplished professional athletes.

Our silent auction is filled with donations from a wide variety of local and regional businesses and organizations, and each day there will be new items to bid on to take home!
